Now that I have passed my due date by three days I am convinced that Baby Bear is going to hold on in there for as long as they can. Despite having a few niggles and back ache I think labour is going to be slow!
Each day is very different, some days I lack energy and others I am full of beans and have loads of motivation. On the days that are productive I have been working on some more baby makes, some for the little one and others to add to my range once I start making to sell again.
Here are a few bits I've been up to over the past few days...
Baby Bear Hat
Baby Booties
Crochet Baskets
Granny's Crochet Cardigan
This one isn't one of my own but one that my lovely Granny has made for Baby Bear and I absolutely love the little button details.... can you see what they are? Yey more bears!
Crochet Flamingo
Watch this space! I have been working on a range of new animal toys to be launched once a collection has been established. My first creation was Hetty the Hen created as a commission piece for a design agency as part of one of their clients advertising campaigns. My newest project is that of a sweet little pink flamingo... pictures to follow.
My last count down was 11 weeks ago and I can now say with only 4 days until my due date it's been a busy old few months.
Pregnancy has been incredible, being able to feel my babies movements, knowing they're growing and developing each and every day and building up that bond only a mother can know is by far the most precious feeling ever. I have fallen head over heels in love with our little baby bear.
It's not all been plain sailing though. I have had lots of aches and pains and in random places. Who would have thought that swelling would cause wrist pain or that I'd need so much help with the simple day to day things like putting on my socks!
I have however been able to craft! I haven't managed to get everything on my baby makes to do list completed but I have done loads! The biggest job on the list was the nursery and oh boy its beautiful. My husband has been a trooper and has worked hard at creating a relaxing space any little'n would be pleased to sleep in.
What do you think?
The Nursery
On the crafting front I have been sewing, crocheting, and basically doing lots of nesting ready for our little arrival.
Teddy Bear
My first project was the creation of our little crochet teddy bear for our Baby Bear. I had a few false starts but am happy with the finished result. A keepsake I'm sure the little one will love.
Granny Blanket
I finally got my family granny blanket finished and just in the nick of time too as I caught a cold which has knocked me off my feet. A week or more in and I'm still trying to get rid of it. My blanket is THE best comforter though, snuggly and warm and full of colour.
Cushions
We were keen to keep our single bed in the spare room but I wanted to make it into a day bed which would be comfortable and useful when feeding and playing with baby. I bought a selection of large cushion inners and bolster cushions to cover myself. I don't use my sewing machine very often but was keen to create some personal cushions which would match our theme for the nursery. Using a mix of fabrics and crochet trims I'm super pleased with what I have created.
I haven't been able to create covers for all of the cushions I bought but I think I over estimated how many I actually needed and I can always add to them as necessary.
Pictures
I was also keen to be creative with fabric and stitch and create some unique artwork for the nursery. I attended Clare's Free Machine Embroidery class in March and have absolutely fallen in love with the technique. My three finished pictures are far better than I could have imagined however they have been a pain in the bum to create. I had lots of problems with my machine jamming underneath and think it's because I used vintage threads which kept splitting and causing the threads to gather underneath. Despite this set back I am sooo free machining again soon!
Any-who lovely folks, I'm off to make a cuppa and put my feet up... make the most of it whilst I can eh! More updates coming soon. x
January is speeding by super fast and I can’t keep up. With only 11 weeks left until my due date I better pull my finger out!
We have been doing lots of DIY and spring cleaning in the Towriess household getting all those jobs we’ve been meaning to get done for ages finished before the arrival of our little one. I have been doing a little bit of crochet and a couple of days teaching but I’ve not been able to do as much as I would have liked. I'm finding it really difficult to put my feet up and relax when I’m such a proactive person – I love keeping busy but keep getting told to 'slow down', 'take it easy', 'look after yourself'. So with all of these wise words in mind I'm trying very hard to do relaxing things and luckily enough crochet is just that - perfect!
Along with some yummy crochet makes I'm going to share with you today I have an ever growing list of baby related makes I can’t wait to get my teeth into. Only trouble is – I need more time!
Crochet Granny Blanket
Back in May last year I decided to make myself a blanket. I spend so much time making samples and lovely commission pieces for others I wanted something of my own. At the time I had no big projects on the go (or baby news) so I thought I’d be able to whip something up in no time. Umm, 8 months later it’s still not finished! I possibly started a bit ambitious with my initial foundation rows measuring in at 214cm wide! This obviously means I now have to create enough length to even make it into a square.
Despite the time it’s taking me I love the colours, the granny square pattern and I can’t wait to get it finished and snuggle up inside it – only another 72cm to go.
Easter Treats
With Easter only a few weeks away I thought I’d get ahead of myself before I get too tired and busy with baby stuff so have started to make a range of Easter related goodies.
Easter chick and bunny creme egg cosies and colourful birdie keyrings are all available to buy now so ask for details. Commissions also welcome.
Baby Makes
Here are all of the lovely things I would like to make before baby arrives. Take a look at my ever increasing to do list...
For the Nursery
3 x Quilted cushions for the spare bed
2 x Bolster cushions to form arm rests also for the spare bed
3 x Free machine embroidered and appliquéd pictures, one of a baby bear, one of an owl and the other of a little duckling. All themes I have for the nursery.
1 x Cot bumper to match cushions and fabric pictures
For Baby
Crochet teddy bear
Crochet baby blanket
Crochet bear hat
Crochet booties
Ok so my crochet granny square blanket may have to be put on hold now that I have actually seen my baby makes list written down, eek there is a lot to squeeze into the next 11 weeks. Better get started. Toodle-pip for now. x
With only a few hours left of 2012 I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone that has supported me throughout 2012. It's been a roller coaster of a year with an emotional start yet I can honestly say it's been brilliant. Crochet classes, the launch of Craft & Chat, featuring in a book, the birth of my nephew, my first wedding anniversary and of course the news of our very own little bundle of joy. I am super excited about 2013 and can't wait to share my journey with you.
I can't believe how close we are to Christmas - I haven't blogged for ages and there is so much I want to share!
I would like to wish all of my readers a magical Christmas and prosperous New Year - let there be craft, cake and carols filling the air over this joyous period. Eat, laugh and be merry!
As always writing down my thoughts doesn't come easily, especially when I'm juggling all of the jobs I have each day. I am a designer by day (my desk job), a maker by night (my love of crochet) and a teacher at the weekend. Alongside these important rolls I am a wife, a home owner, a friend and now I'm a mummy! And this roll is the most exciting.
Baby Bear is growing nicely and I am looking forward to starting 2013. Each and every day I feel my baby move I know I'm blessed to be a women. I love carrying my baby and can't wait to meet them and we only have 16 weeks to wait! Eeee!
Now that I am 24 weeks pregnant I can feel my baby move more frequently and it's amazing. Seeing the picture of my baby in my tummy, feeling it move and making plans for their arrival is wonderful, however, my emotions still do take me by surprise sometimes. I'm a super emotional lady at the best of times but since being pregnant I just can't help myself. I constantly worry about my choices; what I eat, trips I take, the people around me and what they do, Baby Bear is always on my mind.
It's been a busy old few months with the usual juggling of teaching, my day job, home life and baby planning and I've neglected my blogging duties so here's a snap shot of what I've been up to...
Craft & Chat throughout 2012
Crochet Workshops throughout 2012
2013 Crochet Classes
Classes are obviously going to come to a bit of a stand still next year but never fear I have a handful to keep you going until baby is born and a whole new approach to teaching will unfold.
Over the next few weeks I will be taking part in two fantastic fundraising events. The first is the launch party for the fabulous book '20 Crafty Make' in aid of the Stroke Association and the second will be with the lovely ladies from the Craft Studio for a 'Festive Fundraising Event' at Stonebridge City Farm to raise money for a dedicated Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Nottingham City Hospital.
'20 Crafty makes'
I was approached by the lovely ladies from the '20 Crafty Makes' team to submit a crochet project to appear in the book. I of course jumped at the chance to take part. Not only is a great project to be a part of and sit alongside other talented folk the reasons behind the book are dear to my heart.
I have seen the effects of stroke first hand. My husband's grandmother 'Mamma' passed away a couple of years ago after her battle with the condition.
Follow '20 Crafty Makes' on Facebook, click here. Purchase you're very own '20 Crafty Makes' book for only £5 from Folksy, click here.
Festive Fundraiser
As a tutor at the Craft Studio I just couldn't miss out on this worthy event. Organised by Clare Alderson from the Craft Studio the original aim was to hold a fundraising event at the studio itself but with talks with friends and a bit of reorganising this brilliant event will now be held at Stonebridge City Farm making it a great day out for all the family.
With mini Christmas themed craft workshops, a wonderful array of handmade goodies and refreshments as well as lots the animals on the farm this is definitely an event to add to your diary. Pop over to the Facebook events page here.
Join in the fun on Saturday 17th November 11am - 3pm.
I hate starting my blog with an apology about being quiet in blog land but it’s been awhile since I last posted and I wanted to explain why.
Not only have I been busy teaching, hosting our monthly Craft & Chat and making lots of crochet loveliness I have been doing a bit of baking. However, I have not been using flour, eggs or any other tradition cooking ingredients I have been baking with oodles of love. I am pleased to share with you all I’m going to be a mummy!
We had a little trouble getting here with an emotional journey and a very sad failed pregnancy at the beginner of the year but now, in my second trimester, things are starting to look up. Yesterday we got to see our little baby bear for the first time on screen at our dating scan. Baby Towriess is due in April next year and we just can’t wait!
For the past three months my emotions have been all over the place and I have felt dreadful thanks to the constant morning sickness, oh joy! Just when I’m starting to feel healthier and getting ‘that healthy glow’ I now have lots of questions swirling around in my head.
I absolutely love crochet and I love teaching it even more so now I really have to sit down and see how it’s all going to fit in. Pregnancy, birth, baby, crochet and teaching.
I have worked incredibly hard over the past year or so making a name for myself with one main aim, to become ‘Nottingham’s premier crocheter’ a name a lovely friend of mind has given me and I like it. I have had tremendous support from those close to me but most of all from Clare at the studio, without her encouragement I would not have met so many amazing creative people and taught as regularly as I have. The Craft Studio is a fantastic creative space and I now have to figure out how to continue to offer crochet lessons as well as look after myself and this precious little one inside of me. I hope you'll all stick around and share this exciting journey with me.
Despite being quiet online I haven't been sitting around doing nothing. Here are a few bits and pieces I’ve been making over the past few months...
Crochet Cardigan
I was inspired by a lady at work who had just recently learnt to crochet and decided to start on an epic project. Five weeks of solid crocheting she had managed to create a lovely long ladies cardigan with braided front for her mother’s birthday. For someone who has crocheted for years I was ashamed as I had never made a garment before. Toys, blankets, cushion, accessories everything but a garment!
I started on a much smaller scale and created this lovely little baby cardigan, ideal for a boy or a girl wouldn’t you say?
Crochet Hat
Now this little project has inspired me. I was asked to create a hat and mittens set for a new mum who whilst pregnant called her bump raspberry.
I love the textures in this set and think I’m going to make more. First on the list is to recreate it into a tea pot cosy for myself as I truly love it!
Crochet Bride & Groom
Another wedding, another commission!
I just love making these characters, they’re so personal to the couple and every single one is different.
Thank you for reading this lengthy post. Please pop back soon for more crochet baby updates! x
A lovely fun filled day at the studio again last Saturday with my Introduction to Crochet workshop. A full room of ladies all eager to learn to crochet...
This week has been a very busy week for socialising. Saturday saw me teaching crochet toys at the studio, followed by a busy Craft & Chat on Wednesday where we eat cake, talked music, craft, cake and there was even talk of Gayness with our lovely Sarah acting as a steward at the Gay Pride event in Nottingham this weekend, all good stuff!
Last night I spent the evening at my lovely friend Dawn’s house, she kindly cooked me some yummy dinner and we talked and laugh and crocheted the night away. Dawn and her partner Steven are both uber creative and love all things vintage and their house supports this. From books and albums, glass and ceramic vases to their vast collection of pictures, mirrors and clocks adorning their walls their house is brilliant.
With an ever increasing to do list I am inspired! My home is probably the opposite to Dawn and Steven’s with neatly positioned ornaments laid out symmetrically and in coordinating colours however, saying that, as the days and years go by my husband and I have been adding more and more bits to our home to reflect our personality. Visiting such a colourful and charming home makes me even more excited about adding further touches of ‘Towriess-ness’ to our pad. (For those that don’t know me my surname is Towriess). From cushions, pictures and ornaments to gadgets, plants and lamps, you name it I'm filling those shelves, cupboards and chairs with all kinds of loveliness.
Now for a Friday night in relaxing before a weekend of teaching, visiting the littl‘ens at my sister-in-laws, shopping, swimming, and household chores. The list of jobs never end but I wouldn't change it for the world, I'd be lost without my lists!
Saturday saw the sunshine high in the sky and the creative juices flowing. Whilst you were all eating ice creams, playing in the park or day dreaming the day away in the garden I was teaching crochet at the studio. Despite being inside it was a truly lovely day, the sun was beaming through the large windows and the warmth was wonderful.
This week it was Amigurumi toys, my first intermediate class.
I was impressed with the amount of cuteness created on the day. Its my first intermediate class and the first time I've taught students to make toys and suprisingly I got my timings perfect. Everyone went home with a completed little birdie and the skills to make more.
Some even experimented with changing colours.
But what surprised me the most was that I even got to make my very own little toy. I have been wanting to create a colourful little caterpilla for ages now but just haven't had an opportunity to sit and write a pattern and create a sample, until Saturday! Using the bird pattern I created for the amigurumi class I addapted the details and came up with this... What do you think?
Lovingly named 'Freddie' by the lovely Leigh-Anne!
It's been a little while since I last blogged. I've been busy updating my workshop list, creating new samples, updating my website, teaching, baking and so much more.
My next workshop will be Amigurumi toys and we'll be making these cute little birdies. Crochet toys are a wonderful gift for little people and even for not so little people and they're great fun to make too.
Amigurumi Toys Workshop @ The Craft Studio Saturday 21st July, 10am - 3pm £45 including materials
I've also been making samples for my crochet cushions workshop in September and I have LOVED making them. I just love mixing up colours and creating heavily textured surfaces. What do you think?
After a few yucky days full of rain the sun came out this Saturday just in time for my crochet flower workshop at the Craft Studio.
I had an awesome day with a lovely bunch of ladies crocheting flowers. We drank tea, completed at least two flowers each and used a pretty selection of coloured yarn.
I can't wait to see more pretties as they practice their flowers at home... don't forget to share piccies ladies.
I've been teaching crochet at the Craft Studio for a while now but it's only within the past few weeks I've actually moved in. Clare who runs the studio made some space for me and after a trip or two to Ikea I'm in! Saturday was my first workshop since properly moving in and it was so nice to just turn up and teach. Normally I have to lug my granny trolley and at least one big shopper bag up three fights of stairs which as you can imagine makes me one sticky, unfit teacher!
Here's a few piccies, April Marie Textiles at the Craft Studio.....
Bunnies are brown, Bunnies are white Bunnies are always, An Easter delight.
Bunnies are cuddly, The large and the small. But I like chocolate ones, The best of them all.
Easter, Springtime, New life, Bird song and... Chocolate!
Last year I made a hand full of these little guys, they went down so well this Easter I went on crochet overload and made tones more bunnies and chicks stuffed with yummy caramel and creme eggs. They didn't last long! I sold out within a few days with only a couple left for my friends and family. Too cute!
After a mini sort out of all of my yarn and partially started crochet projects I decided to use up some of my odd yarn balls and some hot pink granny squares I had made up a long while ago. It's so easy to start a project and then get side tracked with another so after a few evenings of continuous granny-squaring I whipped up this lovely pinky-purple blanket as a gift to my six year old niece Katie.
A Gift for Baby - Gifts all round this month it seems. Next month I'm going to be an auntie. My little nephew is nicely cooking away in mummies tummy and is due to arrive at the end of March. As Spring joins us so too does the pitter patter of tiny feet. I can't wait!!
I have been a busy bee of late and I've started to make lots of goodies for the little fella. Here are just a few of the things I've been making.
Top of the list, my favourite little crocheted owl. Crocheted toys.... auntie April's forte. To match, a super soft personalised blanket to match and finally (for now!) an ABC123 cube for learning his alphabet and numbers.... or for playing football or maybe both!
A Gift for Me - 2012 hasn't been the bestest start to a year for me health wise so to cheer me up some of my most special people surprised me with some beautiful gifts. Thanks guys you mean the world.
From my lovely friend's Dawn and Steven I received this yummy Hotel Chocolate heart. I almost didn't want to eat it, it was so beautiful. Mision... find one similar in wood or ceramic!
From my special friend Helen I received this pretty bunch of flowers. Flowers can always brighten up the grayest of days.
From my Granny (my teacher) I received this amazing cookery book. Those that know me know that I'm not the best in the kitchen department but with some top tips from 'Grandma' I'm sure to cook up a treat!
and finally as a treat to myself I just couldn't resist purchasing a little bit of comfort for my home wiht this super cute Owl cushion. Love it!
Thank you to everyone near and far that has supported me over the past few months we couldn't have managed without you. Muchos love Axx
Last week I taught the lovely Helen from Cake Eaters Anonymous to crochet. Being the biggest craft addict I have ever met Helen picked it up in no time. Armed with her new crochet 'Amigurumi' book and lots of enthusiasm we jumped right in and made ourselves a toy. The pattern we chose, found on page 10, was for an 'Egg Bear' which should have looked like an egg sized two-colour bear, a great project to learn the basics of shaping.
Following instructions with ease Helen soon whipped up her toy, changing colours half way as the pattern instructed, however I think her cake subconscious took over and Helens bear soon turned into a cupcake. Great job Helen, I can't wait to see crochet cupcakes popping up on the Nottingham cake scene soon. Keep your eyes out folks!
As a treat to my expectant big sister I throw a baby shower this Saturday to celebrate the coming of my soon to arrive little nephew. Bringing together all of my sisters and brother-in-laws close friends and family the afternoon took on a vintage tea party feel with afternoon tea, 1940s music and crochet.... of course there had to be crochet!
I made lots of yummy treats, tea from a pot and even decorated the place with specially made baby bunting.
The mum to be herself even got involved and did a bit of crochet but only once she'd opened all of her beautiful presents. With cute tiny clothes, soft teddies and fleecy blankets the party was soon full of plenty of ooohs and arrrhs which as you can imagine caused a few laughs.
The girls all took part in crocheting squares to create a truly personal gift for the little man. From neatly formed squares to irregular wonky strings we all took part in building a family blanket, oh and I mustn't forget the boys who kept us topped up with tea and even attempted a little single crochet. Well done guys. I can't wait to start piecing it all together and watch it transform.
The food seemed to go down well too!
A special day with family and friends - every Saturday should be like this.
Fancy holding your own crochet party, have a hen do coming up or a pregnant friend you'd like to surprise then why not arrange your own. To find out more click here. x
With the festive season well behind us I say helloooo 2012! I hope you've all had a magical Christmas and were spoilt rotten by the people you love, I certainly was. Here are three of my favourite pressies from my amazing husband of 6 months; can you believe we've been married for 6 month already? I know I can't - let’s hope 2012 takes a slightly slower pace than 2011.
1. I just love my new studio sign by the lovely Sam Beeby from Shabby Chic Wooden Signs. My husband’s use of alliteration 'Wool Wonderland' is a perfect description for my little studio... yarn, yarn everywhere!
2. This beautiful door mat was too pretty to leave outside so it now replaces my old tatty fabric mat placed by the back door and adds oodles of colour and loveliness each and every day. It's just a shame of its purpose though... I was a little upset when my husband came in and wiped his muddy feet on it the other day, tut tut!
3. And finally something I’ve been after for age, wall decals. Inspired by our wedding theme of butterflies and the colour purple.
Only 3 months until my birthday... can't wait to see what he buys me this time. I'm sure this year is going to speed by just like the last especially as I plan to do looooads of crochet workshops. My first was a 1-2-1 with Ellie from Red Anchor Emporium on Monday and I was super surprised by how quickly she picked things up. Ellie was a complete beginner and in a three hour session I managed to teach her how to hold her hook and yarn, how to work single crochet, double crochet and treble crochet and how to change colours, we even managed to squeeze in a few rounds of granny squares! A very talented lady, I look forward to seeing how her crochet journey progresses.
As well as 1-2-1 crochet classes I have been working on my 2012 workshop dates at the Craft Studio. It's taken me a lot longer than I had hoped with one thing or another but we start with these simple crochet mug cosies this Saturday.
There are still a few places left so get in quick and book now!
Lots more exciting projects and dates coming soon. Keep an eye out – they’re not to be missed.
As a Christmas treat my husband and I visited the big smoke last weekend for a fun filled few days of site seeing, shopping and festive hustle and bustle.
As it was Sean's first ever trip to London I really wanted to show him everything London had to offer from the busy, cramped underground to the spectacular architecture and historic landmarks, we even popped by the palace and visited the queen and the crown jewels.
We shared our weekend with my parents and as always there are plenty of piccies to show you. This time it was Sean in charge of the camera. He's done a super job wouldn't you agree?
DAY 1 - Friday 2nd December 2011
London Bridge I just love the blue details.
Tower of London So much to see.
Animals in the Tower We were amazed by the incredible artwork at the Tower by Kendra Haste.
The night drew in quickly and we found ourselves in a brightly lit city with so many roads to take. We visited Trafalgar Square, then Leicester Square then our bellies took us to China Town for some yummy Chinese food.
A stroll down Oxford Street Shopping wasn't supposed to be on our agenda whilst in London but I was in need of some 1920s inspired accessories for my works Christmas do the following Thursday so seen as though the shops were open late we thought 'why not!' We must have walked the whole length of Oxford Street, looking more at the pretty Christmas lights than inside the shops themselves. Our walk ended with a look around Marble Arch.
Day 2 of our trip will follow shortly with so many more exciting photos but for now I hope you've enjoyed reading about our adventures.
This has been one of my favourite commissions of all time. With my own wedding still fresh in my thoughts I welcomed the chance to create a beautiful unique gift for a friend to present to her brother this Christmas as he ties the knot on Saturday 23rd December to his fiance Stacey.
I almost feel a part of this wedding, the special details have been present in many a conversation over the past few months as the date draws closer and my friends excitement increases.
With a classic black & white theme and sparkling silver finishes this winter wedding sounds magical; let's just hope the snow holds off until photo time! ....Never fear Stacey will be sporting her shiny new silver Hunter wellies, an essential winter wedding accessory wouldn't you agree?!
When my granny was a child, techniques like knitting, crochet, sewing and baking were learnt and passed on from mother to daughter to granddaughter, now in a society of computers, the internet and video games these skills are being lost. Like my granny I had a strong interest in textiles and it wasn't long before she was teaching me to knit and crochet. Now after about four or five years of crocheting I get the opportunity to pass on my skills to the next generation. This is what craft is all about!
This Saturday I taught my young cousin, Megan to crochet.
Megan is a couple of weeks away from turning 12 and she wanted to do something a little different to celebrate. She had recently learnt to knit but after seeing my crocheted flowers at my wedding earlier this year she turned to me to teach her to crochet so she could make some of her own.
I was really surprised by how well Megan did. She picked up the stitches easily and was able to leave the session with her very own crocheted mobile phone cover. Next lesson... crochet flowers.
Megan’s said, 'I really like crochet as you only have one needle and it's easier to hold.'
Megan just loves being creative! She told me her favourite subject at school was expressive arts which includes, dance, drama, art and design and textiles. She also loves her weaving kit her Uncle Adrian bought her…. I see a young artisan in the making!!
To mark Remembrance Sunday and honour local servicemen and women who have died in conflicts since and including the First World War I lead my Brownie group this Sunday in a parade through Bulwell.
Bulwell’s Remembrance Sunday parade started from the car park of the Oakleigh Lodge Social Club on Highbury Road at 10.30 am. The procession marched to St Mary’s Church where poppy wreaths were laid before a service inside the church.
For those of you that know me this may come as a bit of a surprise.
On Sunday... I cooked! And when I say cooked I mean I cooked a three course meal for my husband and I, from scratch and all by myself.
Sean is the designated chef in our household, I am very much a bung it in the oven or microwave kind of girl. I know tut tut, not very good to say I have only recently become a wife. I would normally much prefer to clean a toilet than slave away in the kitchen however it was actually fun. Now I'm not going to become the main cook in the house but I can say I enjoyed it; I enjoyed the planning, creating and presenting of it all, I even enjoyed the messiness and utter chaos I created for myself and most of all I enjoyed looking after my husband and treating him to some well cooked, tasty food for a change.
We had homemade tomato soup to start, then stuffed Italian chicken with crispy salad and fries followed by chocolate mousse and honey comb for dessert. All a success taste wise however my mousse was more like thick chocolate sauce than light foamy mousse but this did not matter as we’re both massive chocolate fans and it tasted gooooood!
Anyway you never know I may cook again and for friends.... a dinner party I hear say??? Ummm maybe!
Join me on Saturday 26th November for another crochet taster session this time we'll be learning how to create a crochet coaster. Working in rounds and using single crochet I will teach you the basics as well as how to increase to create a perfectly flat circle. Crochet circles can be used to make all sorts of products; coasters, place mats, rugs, cushions, pot holders.... the list goes on!
To find out more or to book your place, click here.
With so many exciting things going on at the moment I don't know where to start... new studio... crochet workshops... crafty commissions... ohh there's so much to share!
Somewhere to call my own...
Over the past few weeks my husband and I have been renovating our out house into a mini studio for me! It's been long awaited but it's finally finished and I'm so enthusiastic about sharing my excitement with you.
Woolly, pretty, colourful loveliness I can call my crochet haven!
It's totally amazing and I absolutely love it! I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of my very talented dad and always happy to help mum so thanks guys you're amazing. Sean (my husband) though is the real star, he has put up with my crafty mess for such a long time and after hours of plastering, drilling, cutting, sanding and painting (which I helped with of course) he has created a space I can really be proud of and call my own.
Crochet Squares...
Yesterday I headed into town for my second crochet workshop at The Craft Studio and I had such a lovely day. I was joined by six lovely ladies for a day of crochet squares. I supplied tea and cake and everything they needed to create their squares including yarn, crochet hooks, patterns and some very useful instructions to help them on their crochet way. The day however wouldn't have been the same without the crafty natter and pleasing air of concentration which filled the room.
Crochet workshops at The Craft Studio
Next up my 'Crochet Coasters' workshop on Saturday 26th November. This class is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who fancy a crafty get together so if you haven't already book your place... Book Now!
A bit of a character...
A short while ago I was asked by my dear friend Dawn if I could make a crochet Peppa Pig character for her neice. After searching the net and familiarising myself with this cheeky TV favorite I agreed to the challenge. Once I'd racked my brain for awhile and had a few false starts I completed the challenge...
Can you tell who it is yet?!
I popped this lovely little masterpiece onto the old Facebook and was utterly supprised by the amont of interest I had. Five piggies and a Captain Barnicles later I'm in demand for super cute crochet childrens TV characters so with Christmas only around the corner I better get cracking!
